Browse without an account

The guide is public. Browsing events, the calendar, and the map does not require sign-in.

What we keep

Guest preferences and saved event IDs stay in your browser’s local storage. Your guest starting city and radius also stay on this device between visits; other browsing filters use session storage. When you sign in, guest saves are added to your account and guest preferences are imported if you have no account preferences yet. Existing account choices and reminders take priority. The imported guest copy is then removed from this browser. Importing does not enable notifications. When signed in through ChatGPT, we store your site-specific user ID, account email, selected preferences, and saved plans so your choices work across devices. We also store your “More like this” and “Not for me” choices and limited event-view counts to improve your recommendations. Views count at most once per event per Detroit day, up to three days per event; explicit preferences and saves matter more. This activity stays within this site and is not used for advertising.

Your location is a city center or chosen approximate location. We don’t collect precise GPS coordinates. Organizer submissions store the information, contact email, and any owned image you provide. Contact emails stay in the protected review area.

Friends and attendance

Friends is optional. We store the display name you choose, accepted connections, pending requests, blocks, invite records, and your date-specific Interested or Going choices. We never show your account email to friends. Saved events, preferences, and reminders remain private and are not used to publish attendance.

Attendance is private unless you explicitly select “Show this plan to all my friends”. Only accepted friends can see that choice; it is not a public attendance list. “In common” compares your attendance choices with plans your friends shared, matching the event, date, and showtime. It does not reveal your private choices to them. Pause sharing, remove a choice, or remove or block a friend at any time on the Friends page. Resuming sharing restores only choices you previously marked for friends.

Invite links expire after seven days and can be used once to request a connection. The link creator must approve the request. Creating a new link replaces an unused one; unused links can be revoked. We store a hash of the invite token. A received token can be held in your browser’s session storage while you sign in and is removed when you send or dismiss the request. Anyone you send a link to can forward it, so approve only people you recognize. Connection links are shared manually. The Friends page is excluded from site analytics and marked not to be indexed.

Event invitations are separate from connection links and shared attendance. We store the inviter, selected event date and showtime, invited people, and their replies. Sending an event invitation or accepting one shows your display name as Going within that group, including to invited people who may not be your friends. Declines are visible only to you and the inviter. Invitations appear on the site. Phone notifications for new event invitations are off by default and have their own switch in notification settings. If enabled, they use your connected browser subscriptions and show a generic notice without names or event details. Enabling them does not send notifications for existing invitations. Invitations do not send email. Pause sharing to hide your name from Going lists; resuming restores your accepted invitations. Removing or blocking the inviter removes your invitation. Blocking another group member hides your names from each other. Deleting friends data also deletes invitations you created and your replies to other invitations.

Group chat is available to the inviter and accepted participants for an invitation. We store message text, sender, time, read position, and your conversation notification preference. Pending invitees cannot read chat. Current participants can read earlier messages. Removing a participant or declining removes their access; blocking hides messages between those people. Pause sharing to suspend chat access. Chats become read-only after the day following the event, or when the date changes or is cancelled. Cancelling an invitation deletes its chat; deleting friends data removes your messages and any chats you organized.

Chat phone notifications are off by default. You can enable an individual conversation or choose an account-wide default for existing and future chats. An individual chat’s mute or enable choice overrides that default. These notifications use your connected browser subscriptions. You can mute a conversation without changing your event reminders. Notifications show a generic new-message notice, without message text. Delivery depends on browser and device settings. Notifications are not sent after the conversation becomes read-only. Disconnecting a browser in Alerts also stops chat notifications on that device.

Deleting friends data removes your display name, connections, your block list, invite records involving you, and attendance choices. Other people’s blocks on your account remain in effect. Saved events are unaffected. Existing copies or screenshots someone already made cannot be recalled.

Shared plans and problem reports

A shared plans link contains only the event IDs, dates, and showtimes you select. Anyone with the link can view those choices; your name, other saves, and reminders are not included. Changing your saved events does not change an existing shared link. Shared lists are marked not to appear in search results, but anyone with the link can forward it.

Problem reports store the event, issue, details you provide, and review status. Reports are visible to the site administrator. To limit spam, we store an hourly changing hash derived from your network address, not the address itself. Please avoid personal information in report details.

Maps and external links

Map tiles load directly from OpenStreetMap. Your browser connects to that service when viewing a map. Official event, ticket and directions links open third-party services with their own privacy policies.

Chat message controls

You can edit your own messages in an active group chat until another person sends a later message. You can delete your messages while you still have access. Edited messages are labeled. Deleting removes the message text and leaves a “Message deleted” placeholder for the group; it does not remove other people’s replies or undo what they already read.

Notifications

Alerts are optional and separate from saving an event. If you enable browser notifications, we store your push subscription endpoint and encryption keys for your signed-in account. Your browser’s push service delivers those notifications.

If you request email alerts, we store your account email, selected frequency, reminder choices, and consent date. You can sign up before sending opens; your choices remain pending until the sending service is connected. When delivery is enabled, we use Resend to process the recipient address and message content and deliver your selected emails. Previewing an email does not subscribe you or send anything. Email delivery records help prevent duplicates and diagnose failures. Every email includes an unsubscribe link; you can also turn off email alerts on the Alerts page without changing browser notifications or saved events.

Optional site analytics

When Google Analytics is connected, it loads only after you allow analytics cookies. It measures public event browsing, returning visitors, event saves, and ticket-link clicks. Our events include the public page path, event ID, and ticket provider’s hostname. We do not send account names, email addresses, quiz answers, search text, or full ticket URLs. Google receives browser and device information as part of its analytics service. Advertising signals and personalization are disabled. Analytics cookies are configured to expire after 90 days. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals block our analytics integration. Counts exclude visitors who decline or block analytics and are not a complete attendance or sales record.

Analytics preference

Google Analytics is not connected. No analytics data is being sent.

Control your data

Open the account menu to change preferences, restore hidden events, or reset learned feedback. Resetting learned feedback clears event views and feedback while preserving your preferences and saved plans. The account menu also lets you delete saved plans, preferences, feedback, browser subscriptions, alert delivery records, and friends data. You can also delete only friends data from the Friends page. For guest data, clearing this site’s browser storage removes it. Submitted organizer records and approved event facts are maintained separately from personal saved events.

Service operation

We collect limited technical diagnostics to fix failures: error categories, generalized page names, script file locations, response codes, and sampled page, server, and database timings. These reports exclude chat text, form contents, account identifiers, query strings, and full exception messages. They do not use tracking cookies. The hosting platform may also keep operational and security logs under its own retention settings. Event facts and source links are public when approved. Source ingestion and review activity is restricted to the administrator.
